Wallis Sands Beach I — Canvas Wall Print

There is a particular kind of light that only exists at the end of a perfect summer day — golden, unhurried, and generous. Wallis Sands Beach I was born in that light.

This painting captures my first visit to Wallis Sands Beach in Rye, NH — a place that would go on to become one of my favorites. It was golden hour at the close of summer, and the sky was clear and luminous. As someone who experiences color synesthetically, I didn't just see this light — I felt it. Warm, honeyed, and alive.

The sun had nearly set, but there was still just enough light left to filter softly over the sand, catching the little hollows where children's footsteps had pressed their temporary mark. That in-between hour — when the warmth of the day meets the cool blue breath of dusk — left just enough time for one last run into the ocean and back.

And then the beach opened up. The expanse of the ocean stretched before me, vast and unhurried, and I felt something I've come to love: the gentle, beautiful reminder that I am just one small, radiant piece of a much larger puzzle — and that is a wonderful thing.
